Streptococcus parauberis was named as an independent species in 1990; it was Streptococcus uberis type II before. In the photos we can see that it can be differentiated according to the colour of its colonies at the PM test; this is useful for on-farm diagnosis. The bacterial species found can then be confirmed in our laboratory using the MALDI-TOF machine and antibiotic susceptibility can be determined. This is of a great importance in Streptococcus parauberis infections due to an increased resistance rate when selection of a proper antibiotic is often more complex.
